The book 'Song of Goa' goes deep into the love songs of the Mando. "I am filled with honour and pride at the attempt by such an eminent scholar, historian, painter Dr Jose Pereira," said Dr Francisco Colaco, who reviewed the book. He further went on to say that the Mando is a "concrete symbol of the synthesis of two cultures, Latin and Indian."5/5(1).

Aryan Books International has published two volumes on the Mando, entitled, Song of Goa, vol. 1: Mandos of Yearning (); and vol. 2: Mandos of Union and Lamentation (). While the Mando is an art song, the remaining three types represent Goan folk : Jose Pereira.

The Pereira-Martins-DaCosta’s Folk Song of Goa book contained 38 specimens of deknni and the revised edition soon to be published with more additions will contain 64 specimens out of which only 20 have the theme of the dancing girl.

Therefore there is a greater number of deknnis that have themes other than that of the dancing girl. This is a companion volume to the Song of Goa which focuses on the mando. Both books have done well and are popular with musicians, music enthusiasts and just about anyone who would like to more about the Konkani songs that are still so popular in the Goa of our times.

The Mando is. Martins and Pereira published some of Song of Goa book songs in Marg () and Goan tribune (). They also published monographs of Goan Song in a Sheaf of Deknnis (Bombay: Konkan Cultural Association, ) and “song of Goa.
